How to read a receipt by QR code
Last updated:
In Brazil every electronic fiscal receipt (NFC-e) prints a QR code at the bottom that links to the official record of the sale, with all items and amounts. MOVEListas uses it to register the whole purchase in seconds. In the United States and Argentina receipts have no such code: photograph the receipt (or upload the invoice PDF) and the app reads the text.
Step by step
- Open the app and tap Scan.
- Choose "QR code" (Brazil) or "Receipt photo" (USA, Argentina).
- Check the screen: items, quantities, prices and total are filled in. Fix anything you want.
- Confirm. The purchase goes to History, the items leave the list and the month's spending is updated.
When reading fails
- Crumpled or faded paper: take the photo in good light, flat, with the whole receipt in the frame.
- Long invoices (Walmart, Costco): upload the PDF from the store's app or e-mail; it reads better than a photo.
- Handwritten market receipts: type the items; the app learns their names for next time.
What is stored
Only items, prices and the total. Card numbers, SSN or IDs that appear in the photo are blurred before storing; the original photo does not stay on the server and the blurred image is deleted after 90 days. Reading happens on our own servers, with no third-party service. Details in the privacy policy.
